I often can't help feeling that when ladies are photographed in a certain way, their personalities are lost or switched off somehow, to create the image and also to create a 'blank canvas' for men to add in whatever personality they want that woman to have. So the Shrapnal Bambi series, along with two other very similar images, were an attempt by me to continue that process. The skin is blank and empty, the hair is done in 'hairpattern', the clothes have solid patterns inserted which have little to do with the shape of the woman they cover... Often, the backgrounds have more life and passion than the figures stood in front of them.
